You can drive yourself or take a day tour with Jungle Johno or Col's Natural North Tours, both are really great day trips! Golf - Visitors welcome at local courses. Mackay Golf Club is 18 holes, Mirani and Sarina, and including the new Harrup Park Country Club are all 9 holes. Reef Day Cruises - Fly to the Reef by Float Plane and see the Barrier Reef by air. Fishing - Hire a dinghy or fish straight off our beach, Mackay Harbour wall or one of the many tidal creeks, just ask the locals where they are biting! Game fishing trips can also be arranged. Drives, Arts & Crafts and sightseeing! Discover the scenic beauty and the many interesting diversions throughout the Pioneer Valley, Sarina Area, the Homebush Connection and our Hibiscus Coast to the North. Just some of the highlights are, the Homebush Orchid House, Hay Point Coal loading facility (the world's largest) and views from the lookout point are magnificent, and don't forget about the country pubs (Wendy's Pie's at the Pinnacle Hotel are the best!) along the way. Or, take a long walk at low tide to the Eimeo Hotel. Just past Mirani is the Illawong Fauna Park, check out the wildlife, the kids and big kids will love it! Gem Stones, try The Sapphire Place, and then stop off for a drink or a meal at the Leap Hotel opposite. Shopping / Weekend Markets - Mackay City Heart and various shopping centres have all it all. On the weekend, visit the local market produce or just wander the City Heritage Trail and soak up some of Mackay's History.
